UtilitiesGiving back productivity to those who care.

Independent and NFP providers of Community (aged, disability, family) Care Services are quickly discovering how enterprise mobility solutions can help to transform this vital sector.

In a sector under constant pressure to do more with less, the benefits of removing inefficiencies in travel, note taking, reporting and administration are a clear path to facilitating increased time spent face-to-face on client care.

Various service providers are using BlinkMobile to improve the speed and accuracy of reporting in-home visits, while others are improving employee and contractor time sheeting that intelligently incorporates task specific pay rates. Another group have created a dedicate “Admissions & Authority” app using the Blink Mobility Platform that can be used by a range of different providers. BlinkMobile is also very excited by the possibilities of relative and care giver apps that service providers can use to allow quick anytime access to event calendars, upcoming patient visit schedules and recent visit synopsis’.

UtilitiesHeat Up Your Mobility Strategies

When it comes to water and electrical utilities BlinkMobile has been selected by a Queensland water utility as the best way to develop a broad-based customer service/request app that importantly works across the widest range of devices and operating systems. Another electrical utility has started with an employee survey on its app before building out that same app into a more comprehensive employee resource.

In South American another BlinkMobile client is an electrical contracting firm responsible for the inspection and maintenance of electrical supply infrastructure. Their BlinkMobile app presents as a prioritised job list, each with the staged dependent tasks needed to complete that job. Opening each initial task presents a range of forms that drive the work activities and data collection. Completing each form triggers a workflow, with management signoff required on each stage before the next stage of that job will be displayed to the technician. All of which happens in real-time!

UniversitiesGraduate Into The Mobile World

When it comes to Universities and tertiary education, it’s common they use BlinkMobile for their student facing apps, their lecturer apps, as well as general administration and even maintenance staff apps.

Student apps present as, class timetables, campus maps, ‘find a vacant PC’ locations, other ‘get me there’ directions, plus ancillary services such as transport and accommodation. Integration with backend systems such as Blackboard also provide convenience and added value for both students and lecturers.

UtilitiesDrive Your Mobility Strategy In The Right Direction

The business of transport and logistics is dominated by rosters, delivery deadlines, location and a need for seamless coordination. Add in the value provided by traffic management and route planning services, and you have an industry ideally positioned to transform itself on the back of mobile apps and affordable consumer grade devices.

Gone are the expensive bespoke devices we’ve long associated with couriers and delivery drivers. Even low end devices worth a few hundred dollars can scan and capture signatures but they also know where they are, where they’re heading and the best way to get there. Not to mention being able to access email, or get sent SMS’s or in-app alerts.

One of Australia’s largest transport and logistics operators is using BlinkMobile to streamline its vehicle inspections and safety reporting processes. Ensuring greater compliance with more stringent legislation and greater levels of safety for drivers and the general public.

HealthcareExperience 5 Star Enterprise Mobility

Tourism and events is another diverse sector with a myriad of use cases. BlinkMobile has enabled the rapid development of tourist focused mobile solutions in some of New Zealand’s most tourist dependent economic zones.

Local Councils have created tourism focused features with their BlinkMobile Council apps. Features like guided walks, interactive maps with points of interest and embedded audio streams, linkages back to historical archives, have all set some local government authorities above their state and federal counterparts.

Local councils also rely on their BlinkMobile service to support many of their sponsored events. A major music festival in Queensland had one of the first ever ‘event apps’ (provided by the local council as part of its community sponsorship and support) with extensive integration with many social media streams.

Event use cases range from the community natured above, to custom apps for international conferences and expos, to the pure commercial that served to further promote and engage paying patrons for a major motorsport event attracting more than 100,000 people. BlinkMobile is even used to deliver logistical support for a large triathlon series in South America, so participants and their supporters can track each athlete’s performance and standings.

Healthcare

A Production Line For Activity-Based Apps

Australian based manufacturing organisations are being forced to reinvent themselves. International competitors and open markets mean that more efficient business processes are not just desirable, they are crucial for survival.

BlinkMobile uses cases include paper and packaging manufacturers using customer facing apps to enhance customer service and the accessibility of timely stock and delivery information. Extending up to internal focused systems, where activity-based apps and mobile devices are transforming legacy systems to make better use of bar codes and scanning, tracking stock levels and speeding up stock movement, while providing a single view across a number of interstate facilities.

In a very different use case, commercial fish farmers have developed a scorecard app used to assess and rate potentially dangerous work practices or hazardous substances, to ensure compliance with standards and maintain the quality of the finished product.

HealthcareTaking Care of Your Mobility Solution

The Healthcare sector traverses many different organisations, from large public health and hospital systems, to private operators as well as the NFP (‘not-for-profit’) providers who operate in many aspects of community care.

BlinkMobile has clients and use cases across many aspects of the health sector and across different geographies. A group of large private hospitals in the United Kingdom use BlinkMobile as the basis for their patient registering and booking system. This system also extends the option to patients of them self-registering via any browser capable device (including PCs), and selecting the clinic, doctor and/or procedure they’ve been referred to.

An alternate form of registration app is used by a public health group in regional Victoria. They rely on a BlinkMobile app for elderly or incapacitated patients to request transportation to doctors and/or clinics. These requests are then coordinated and rostered via another app to a large number of volunteers you give their time to move such patients to and from appointments.

A NFP services provider to the aged care sector in Queensland have a different use case, they have developed activity-based apps to assist with facilities management, patient assessment and support needs, as well as client admission and consent processes.

GovernmentVote #1 For A Smart Mobile Future"

Like the Local Government Authorities mentioned above, many of the higher levels of Government are also looking to enterprise mobility as the best way to achieve operational efficiency for its staff and contractors.

A major NSW Government department uses BlinkMobile for its infield inspections, reporting and issuing of non-compliance notifications in a highly regulatory driven environment. This enterprise mobility initiative has been highly successful in not just improving the ‘weekly throughput’ capability of each staff member, but the highly efficient process has generated extensive amount of goodwill with the corporations and organisations they interface with. This program will now be expanded from direct employees to the independent contractors who are authorised to conduct such activities on a commercial basis.

BlinkMobile has also been engaged at a Federal Government level on a number of projects, including the enhancement of healthcare services and mobile initiatives to improve the connectivity between employers and job seekers.

FinanceBanking On A Productive Mobile Strategy

Banks and Insurance companies are great examples of a sector that has focused on their cornerstone or ‘Hero’ apps. Those mobile offerings focused on consumer needs to ‘find an ATM’, ‘check their account balance’ or ‘make payments or account transfers’.

And, having lavished time, attention and millions of dollars on such initiatives, the next focus for Banks and Insurance companies is now naturally falling to internal work practices and the challenge of increasing productivity and reaching new levels of efficiency.

The process of managing consumer home loans and mortgages is a case in point. The first bank in New Zealand to use BlinkMobile saw an opportunity to revolutionise how they processed home loans via independent mortgage advisers, with a view to stealing a march on the competition. The traditional process was very time intensive requiring massive duplication of effort as data was manually entered and rechecked at many points in the process.

The client has used BlinkMobile to develop multiple ‘soldier’ apps that work both as web apps as well as hybrid native apps. Some apps are for consumer use while others are very focused on the needs of the mortgage adviser as well as their office administrators. The end result has been a process that’s highly refined and streamlined, works across multiple devices and promises consumers conditional loan approvals in 90 seconds.

Equipment HireA New Lease On Life For Mobile Solutions

The equipment hire industry is another sector that is extremely competitive with only a handful of companies having the resources to offer a large scale national service.

BlinkMobile’s first client in this sector saw the introduction of activity-based apps for the workplace as an excellent way to build business efficiencies and gain a competitive advantage. Beginning with an a simple app to support the 12 staff responsible for servicing over 3000 worksite and portable toilets, the client quickly saw savings that amounted to many hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Subsequent apps became more detailed and addressed the problem of maximising the clients return on their equipment investment. The client identified that every hour it took to check returning equipment back into its asset management system cost it significant amounts of potential revenue. If the equipment wasn’t shown as available then new hires would be missed entirely as the customer would most likely go to a competitor. The custom app used by each of the yard supervisors has reduced the time taken to show returned equipment as ‘available for hire’ from hours down to a few minutes.
